Propagating vortices in ferrofluidic Couette flow under magnetic fields – Part II: Oblique orientated fields

چکیده
This work provides a numerical investigations of propagating vortex flow states (pVs) for ferrofluidic Couette with small aspect ratio and fixed non-rotating end-walls. The system is subjected to oblique magnetic fields as superposition axial transverse orientated fields. Such field configuration breaks the basic symmetries renders all structures be inherently three-dimensional complexer dynamics. Under pV are not direct present at onset. Instead oscillating (oVs) bifurcate out stationary state. Basically these oVs hold same pVs, which eventually evolve in smooth transformation oVs. pVs under appear periodic or quasi-periodic, render them topological speaking exist on either two- one-dimensional invariant manifolds 2-torus limit cycle (1-torus) solutions, respectively. In detail, structural modifications changes spatial temporal behavior solutions studied changing strength applied field.

Transition to turbulence in Taylor-Couette ferrofluidic flow
It is known that in classical fluids turbulence typically occurs at high Reynolds numbers. But can turbulence occur at low Reynolds numbers? Here we investigate the transition to turbulence in the classic Taylor-Couette system in which the rotating fluids are manufactured ferrofluids with magnetized nanoparticles embedded in liquid carriers. We find that, in the presence of a magnetic field tra...
متن کاملNonlinear simulations of magnetic Taylor-Couette flow with current- free helical magnetic fields
The magnetorotational instability (MRI) in cylindrical Taylor-Couette flow with external helical magnetic field is simulated for infinite and finite aspect ratios. We solve the MHD equations in their small Prandtl number limit and confirm with timedependent nonlinear simulations that the additional toroidal component of the magnetic field reduces the critical Reynolds number from O(10) (axial f...
متن کاملMagnetic field induced flow pattern reversal in a ferrofluidic Taylor-Couette system
We investigate the dynamics of ferrofluidic wavy vortex flows in the counter-rotating Taylor-Couette system, with a focus on wavy flows with a mixture of the dominant azimuthal modes. Without external magnetic field flows are stable and pro-grade with respect to the rotation of the inner cylinder. More complex behaviors can arise when an axial or a transverse magnetic field is applied. Dependin...
متن کاملMagnetic fields boosted by gluon vortices in color superconductivity.
We investigate the effects of an external magnetic field in the gluon dynamics of a color superconductor with three massless quark flavors. In the framework of gluon mean-field theory at asymptotic densities, we show that the long-range component H[over ] of the external magnetic field that penetrates the color-flavor locked phase produces an instability when its strength becomes larger than th...
متن کاملDrift wave vortices in nonuniform plasmas with sheared magnetic fields
Nonlinear coherent structures governed by the coupled drift wav&on-acoustic mode equations in nonuniform plasmas with sheared magnetic fields are studied analytically and numerically. A solitary vortex equation that includes the effects of density and temperature gradients and magnetic shear is derived and analyzed, The analytic and numerical studies show that for a plasma in a sheared magnetic...
